Watermarking is one of the oldest ways of making and identifying paper as
well as preventing falsification.

It used to be done as follows: some pulp was placed on the
sieve. The majority of water contained in it had to be removed through the
sieve. Lined figures or relief that formed on the surface of the sieve
appeared on the paper as clear grains or images giving darker or lighter
impression. This was caused by the sieve's uneven surface that made the fibres
deposit in layers of different thickness, thus forming a figure on the
paper.
Papers manufactured in Diósgyőr are not only safe but are also
pleasing to the eye. The own watermark of the mill - acorns with oak-leaves -
has been known for a long time and it is still an existing sign of the mill even
today. This watermark is a protected one since 24. June, 1924. The sieves for
the watermarks are prepared in the own workshop of the mill.
Types of the watermarks:
-
simple linear watermarks
-
multitone watermarks
-
portrait watermarks

Papers can be produced also with a unique watermark, these can help a company
to achieve and strengthen its own image. This aim can be also realised with the
usage of our self-copying invoice paper with watermark.
